Floors, Floors, Floors

These floors have put up some kind of fight!  I thought we would never see the concrete but here it is...

Now, we are looking into stains for a more grey cement color.  Once these are finished we can spray the ceiling and then - on to the walls!

Let the Demo Begin!

Talk about some stress relief along with a great work out!  If you don't mind getting dirty, try pulling up carpet and taking down ceiling tiles!  We started demo this weekend and got a long way.  Between what I like to think of as "black dirt granules" falling from the ceiling tiles and so much dust we all needed masks, we made some fabulous head way...

Gray outdoor carpet - YUCK

The carpet pad is one of the most disgusting things ever.

Look! We found wood!

 That's alot of ceiling tiles.

Funny how people just stuff things up there hoping it will never be found.
Why oh why did you use so many nails in the stairs?

And DOUBLE tacked the carpet, all the way around the building!
We really got to know our hammer and crowbar.

Thank you Andrew, for your introduction to the Bag Butler (truly life changing) and for your height; wonderful for taking down ceiling tile!

 Hubby Hard at Work!

Fashion Statement.  Enough said.

All in a day's work.  Check back soon for more updates!
Look out San Antonio, Anteloquy-Fresh Urban Flowers is coming!

Technology...Grr

I love an iPad as much as the next person but with all the new technology comes new technology glitches and talk about testing ones patience!  My email has been acting up and that's a life line these days.  Anyhow, to take the stress off I like to focus on flowers.  Flowers bring a calm to me a computer will never be able to do.  Here are a few pics of the latest designs.  Also, check out this article.  It highlights some of the many benefits of surrounding yourself with flowers!

Summer Lovin'

I love summer days and these arrangements remind me of the summer...

When you get an arrangement, if you are anything like me, you want them to keep forever and a lot of times they die quicker than you'd like.  This, of course, stems from the fact they aren't meant to live out of the ground and unfortunately a week is usually the longest you can expect any arrangement to keep.  Seeing that we are in HOT San Antonio, 90% of the flowers you receive in arrangements are already a week old!  This being that we must ship flowers in from around the country and world that have much more flower friendly climates.  Although they have been through a lot already, these tips can help each flower in your next arrangement be all they can be:

1.  Muchos water!  Be sure your arrangement is saturated at all times.  Spritzing with a water bottle gives them a nice "rain like" feel too.  And use the nutrient packets if given.
2.  Keep out of direct sunlight and in the coolest room of the house.
3.  As some flowers wilt and brown faster than the others, take the old ones out so they don't mold or take water and nutrients from the fresh ones.
4.  If you notice your water changing color, change the water out.

So the next time you find yourself with flowers on your table, try these summer lovin' tips.
Enjoy and give flowers often!

Just Smile

Ever had one of those days where for no reason at all you wake up with a smile on your face ready to conquer the world?  Today was one of those days for me.  Granted, I did get to sleep in a bit so that helped, but as I rolled out of bed and went to the computer to check in with the world I had a smile on my face.  After the morning routine I decided to stop by the coffee house and grab a coffee and that's when I noticed it.  My attitude was definately rubbing off.  Now, truthfully, I am usually not the best morning person.  It tends to take a little while before my charming personality can show through.  But this morning I strolled through the parking lot chipper and smiley and low and behold I witnessed the domino effect right before my very eyes.  The guy on a mission with a scowl on his face, head down, b-lining it to his car even got a smile and a, "Good Morning!" and I saw it cross his face; he looked up, his scowl looked startled and then a beautiful smile crept across his face as if it were just waiting for a cue to pop out.  I swear I saw his whole day change in that one tiny moment.  What power that little curve of your lips have.  He looked back at me and said in an equally chipper voice, "Good Morning!".  So hear's to everyone a good night sleep and a great morning.  Rise and shine, literally, with a gorgeous smile on your face and watch the effect it has on the ones around you.  And if you find you still need a little help, well, I know a wonderful flower shop around the corner ;)

Smiles,
Brooke

PS Don't forget about bringing a HUGE smile to your mother's face on Mother's Day...

That's What It's All About...

What's better than a scoop of chocolate ice cream, your favorite song on the radio or a smile from a child in the booster seat one booth over?
We need to remember what this life is all about.
Different things to different people I do realize, but to most, I would venture to say, the deadline at work is not top of the list. Instead it's more about a hot cup of coffee, the sweet smell of honeysuckle or the tickle of a cat's tail on your leg.
These things and a few more are why I created Anteloquy. A cute little store full of life's simple pleasures. OK, well, the dream of a cute little store. For now, I am completely happy creating arrangements and cards for first date follow ups, pregnancy pick me ups and everything in between, from the comfort of home sweet home. Friends and family have utilized these services exclusively long enough. Don't get me wrong, I adore creating a bouquet of flowers for grandma or a wedding invitation for my best friend. I just think it's time to open the doors to the public. To the cute little couple across the street I've only had a chance to say "hi" to during yard work, or the chipper cashier at the bank I see on a weekly basis, and to the overzealous jogger I see morning after morning after morning after morning after morning out of my kitchen window. Anteloquy is my place to focus on the details and remember "it's the little things that matter". Simple indulgences are the things I cherish most. Why not share them with others?

Through the years I have created anything from a cute give away for a friend on a bad day to an emotionally challenging, beautiful arrangement for my grandather's funeral. I have created a warm and fuzzy card for a friend's wife and a gorgeous letterpress wedding invitation set, complete with personalized thank you cards and envelopes. Each of these projects have equally come from the heart.
Attention to the way the flowers fall in a centerpiece, the way the font ever so slightly hints at the emotion of the card and the way a perfectly wrapped package can make even socks and underwear look delicious, is my way of relaxing and reveling in a job well done. All to often are these tiny particulars overlooked. I mean am I wrong or is there something to be said for a perfectly matched gift tag tied to the package with a bow you know took more than one try to get it that fluffy?

Ok, enough about me already, what's in it for you? Well, as I said earlier, it's time to open these niceties to the public. So for starters, it just so happens the day deemed to honour thy mother is just around the corner. That's right folks, Mother's Day is May 9th and this year you could be the star sibling. I am offering three options to choose from for a one-of-a-kind, sure-to-please, attention-to-detail, from-the-heart Mother's Day gift. So here it goes...

So for now I am off to create in the hopes I will be hearing from you soon!
I would like to leave you with one thought,

"Simple pleasures are life's treasures and it truly is the little things that matter most."

That's What It's All A-bout,
Brooke
